JCB Fastrack 4220 Questions

Been on muck with mine all week.

Low range this is new for me having to change a range!!!

D to get to and from muck midden
Change to M to get PTO going highlight the rev hold setting then select the green button to get to target speed and revs for spreading and don't forget to have the hand throttle set as well .

It's all a lot of faff compared to a JD for me but it's comfy . For a good job .

It does and pretty much is after 4 long days of spreading. But just all seems a bit pointless really after 12 years of autopower JD's they might be too simplistic for some people but they just do the job needed and do it very well !!

Probably the biggest gripe so far is the quick steer being on with the gps if you don't watch what you're doing turning you can land in a right mess very quickly. I know it can be turned off using either headland management or a black button so why not just be able to turn it off with the button up the pillar . Seems stupid to me

Not overly impressed with grip either if I'm honest but it's pretty wet and most of the muck has been well rotted so would be very heavy so kinda giving it the benefit of doubt at the minute

Gonna stick the plough on today then I'll get a couple of days at fert beginning of the week with it

Only time will tell .

There's always a chance the Deere will come up with something likeable for us again but at the moment this is the only other make that I actually want to sit in

Well I still prefer my usual older JD for ploughing but I'll get used to it .

Only a couple of things really bothering me in the cab that I've never noticed on the demos I've had . There's not enough range on the steering column it's far too close with the seat turned round and I like it close my boss is taller than me he's gonna struggle with it and the same with the seat right back the armrest catches the cab.

It pulls well but I think I need more wind out the tyres but as I'm only on this for a day I'll live with it

No just the bare tractor we're always trying to keep things as light as possible.

I've got the page from the Michelin website and I think I'll can get my tyres down to 14psi I'm at 18 just now the demo ones I've had I just dropped them to 14 and they pulled well enough.

The tractor is 8.5 ton ish plough says 2t so I'm thinking 3-3.5t at least each tyre so I'd say 14psi would be an ok pressure and just potter along the road between fields

They've obviously changed there tune. But when I was pricing one a few years ago the man from JCB classed them as essential. Demonstrator I had, had one fitted.

Will the plough not put more weight on backend because it's so far out back?

My plough doesn't weigh that much but brochure says it needs 9t lift capacity on tractor.

Deck weight was never mentioned to us.

Yeah it probably will that's where a weigh bridge would come in handy

The Tier 5s have uprated axles and I believe the chassis is 1mm thicker throughout so the bare tractor is about 600kg heavier, which goes a fair way towards negating a deck weight

It would be interesting to find out if the 4220 goes well without the deck weight.
They say weight up front is useless on the older fastracs and you need the deck weight to get them to pull well.

Got on OK today.

Ours has a deck weight on its tier 5 weighs over 10 ton sat there.

Mines on trelleborg and I have a trellborg app for working out axle weights. Worth downloading full in weight of implement distance from axle etc.

I'd guess that plough is putting over 10 ton on that back axle.
