JCB pin seized

Need to remove the steering ram on my 3CII as the seal's blown. I cannot get the rod-end pin out. According to the manual the pin should have a split pin through a hole in the lower end, however the lower end only projects about a millimetre beyond the lower flange. No idea what is meant to hold it in.

Tried massive heat and putting a jack under it. Won't budge. I can't whack the underside for fear of flattening it out.

In theory I should be just lifting it out. Any ideas? Suppose a last resort would be cutting the head off and smacking it from the top, but due to its location, its hard to get a swing at it from any angle. Thanks

Belt on the top first to break the rust seal ,,big stilsons and see if it moves ,,lots of wd40 or diesel over night might soak in ,,the underside might have a boss with a hole to slide a split pin through ,,plenty of gunk covering it by the looks of it

I'd have thought the splitpin would have went through the lower part of the jaw as well as the pin(to stop the pin turning and wearing the holes in the jaw).Maybe give it a good clean first to get a better look. Have a suspicion the pin needs to go up the way,so cutting the head off will be no benefit. Also.....when you say massive heat? That'll likely need oxy/propane and no paint left on the jaw or top of the pin... ;)
Monty's suggestion may be simpler.

I would just leave the pin in. Looks like you can unsrew the chrome rod out of the end joint anyway or disassemble the ram in situe to change the seals.
This might be the least destructive course of action. It's a complete mystery how it could be so seized.

Can you cut above and below ram end with a thin disc ,then remove ram , either press it out or wrap rod in wet rags and heat up end then cool quick and repeat and then knock bit left ,out ,cut head off bolt and give same treatment
Haven't tried hot and cold yet, just found the freeze spray, might try heating the boss then freezing the pin head. Then smack it.

Thanks, I never thought about investigating the jaw. The book clearly show the pin extending below, so something has been "done" to this one. I had it glowing red but maybe not red enough, will have another go.(oxy-propane)

Thanks for suggestions. Tat's just melted grease oozing out. If I hadn't seen an exact diagram in the works manual I would think it was threaded. But if so, it would have been done after manufacture and that seems unlikely, esp since the jaw is cast.
My greatest fear is that I snap the top off and discover . . . that it IS threaded. Having another bash at it this afternoon.

I think that it is a threaded pin, and the split pin is merely there to stop it unscrewing.
Get a big shifter or stilsons and a length of pipe and give both halfs of the yoke a good heat up and then hey ho it.

Don't think it's threaded and just looks like a parallel pin,so with the head cut off,it likely would drive down the way.

That's in my book too . . . but not on my digger arrgh! Found this after getting the ram off and investigating the lower jaw. Hole one side, roll pin showing on the other.
Can't imagine why they would drill through such a thin piece of casting and put something in it that needs to be hammered out.
Thanks to all for suggestions.
