JD 6910

I’m currently looking at a John Deere 6910 with auto power, has anyone had trouble with this gearbox on theses early models or would power quad be a safer option. Thanks

I’ve always known them to be good but when I was looking at this one someone said watch out for the early autopowers, hence why I’m now asking a bigger audience.

They can be repaired

The youngest 6000 series is gunna be 20 years of age now. Unless you find a mothered / refurbished / treasured model, or want a project, or particularly like heartache - I'd avoid. Don;t get me wrong; they're an absolutely bosting tractor in powrquad flavour but buy with your eyes wide open !

But u can fix them. Most of the bits are available through deutz fahr as they use the same tranny
Anything is fixable, until it isn't. And note the phrase "most of the bits".
I send mine to a dutch specialist (vemo) and it came down to one part that wasn't available from zf. So my unit was send to zf who fecked me over by throwing it right in the fück it bucket and not giving me a refund. In the end JD holland and the dealer gave me most of the refund as there was no talking to Zahnrad-Fück you (zf stands for zahnrad fabrik for those who don't get the joke).
