Out of interest, has anyone bought Jerseys from Jersey? I see that there is a Gold Top sale in Exeter soon with a number of animals from there.
I also see that they are using American and Danish semen nowadays

Saw some years ago when on holiday there and they are tiny!

It used to be until a few years ago that Jersey Island cows could only be bred to Jersey Island bulls. That rule has been lifted allowing breeders to access Jersey genetics from wherever they want to.

We bought 2 from Beeston about 10 years ago, both did ok and got 2 new familys started for us. They were 1st cross non island bulls and were slightly smaller than ours but performed equally as well

Why do some people not like beef cross sucklers out of Jerseys, just because they're smaller? I would have thought they'd raise healthy strong calves with such good milk.

Most people don't want them out of holstein around us, Jersey cross stuff seems to be fine.
