True that. They are smarter than the other breeds, but for everyone that's ok with that, there are several who don't like them because of it!

All our calves from the Jersey heifers are getting 1.5 lhow much colostrum, or milk do you feed your jer hfr calves, they look good. Reason for asking, we acidify and store colostrum, and use instead of powder, but it's pretty rich stuff, and we have to be careful feeding it to frx and beefx, we have 30 hfrs i/c to jersey, and the calves are small, a base idea, would be good.

Yep. Agreed. With a heifer herd you're doing well to get 1.5 litres colostrum out of them.
Dad's favourite farm task calf rearing/feeding. He says he finds rearing jersey heifers easier than the BF heifers he used to do a home farm.how much colostrum, or milk do you feed your jer hfr calves, they look good. Classic schoolboy error with jerseys there. As heifers, jerseys will find anything loose and pull it! Prid tassels and heat detection equipment especially, they even lick tail paint off each other! As soon as they calve the first time, that does stop thoughAnyone got any interesting synchronisation protocols for Jerseys? Just done a batch with prids, what a learning curve. We didnt snip the ends off of the prids after implanting and Jerseys being Jerseys they found it hilarious to pull each others prids out probably should have known better but everyday is a school day as long as you learn by your mistakes. Sweeper bull in with the first group 25 days post A.I and i havent seen a hint of anything on heat yet so fingers crossed. I have another batch to breed in the next weeks so would be interesting to hear any input regarding group sync, irrelevant of breed etc.

xbred herd, with some purish, and x. We serve to oestrus strips for 8/9 days, then prelim, and serve to strips, we do this with the cows, as well. Our autumn block of cows, 55 to serve, 52 caught in 21 days, very cost effective, when compared to the full works we used to do ! This will be block serving number 4, doing it this way.Anyone got any interesting synchronisation protocols for Jerseys? Just done a batch with prids, what a learning curve.
