John Deere 30 series v M/R series

Hi

I like older tractors more these days, especially after getting my Ford 7810. I like the older Deere’s over the newer ones. Just wondered the gap between a 6830/6930 premium v a 6155r. Think around same hp and yes the m/r series will be more modern with better suspension, cab layout etc. But just prefer older ones with no add blue and more hands on. Will the 30 series do a good enough job?

Why not? There’s a thread on here from only about a week ago

We've got all JD just now from 10 to R series 7 of themin total . Only 1 R tho and it's going in the spring it's fine but the 30's are better in our opinion

I just bought a 6115r as a second tractor because it was as cheap if not cheaper than older 30 series . Everyones different but I prefer the r series due to much quieter cab , better lift capacity with longer lower link arms meaning you don't need to have very short pto shafts ,although this is probably not relevant on the 6 cyl's . Pre 2016 r series don't have adblue .

Yes Iv driven both in my time. Well the 6930 on 2 occasions and liked it but this was like when they came out plus had a go on a r series and liked it to for comfort etc but just got thing about older stuff now and heard mixed things about 30 series.

Have you still got the Fendt?
The 6930 is a lighter tractor of the two if that makes any difference.

Oh nooooo was hoping no one remembers the Fendt discussion lol. But yes still got it but might sell still not sure. Yes been doing bit homework on 6930 premium. Think it has same engine in as the 6830 premium but the 69 has more hp boost. But sure if got a 68 remapped it get the same hp.

6cyl 30 series are short coupled as well to the point we just about struggle to get the power harrow to do both 6930 and R series but it's possible. But the man has a 7810 ford possibly the shortest coupled tractor in history!!

You need to know the history on a 30 series
otherwise it could be one expensive mistake.

Exactly the same tractor.

For me JD peaked with the 20 series around 05/06 for power and performance and fuel use but the autopower was crap to drive the 30 series autopower is far better
