John deere 4455 gearbox failure-worth repairing?

Hello,
Found broken john deere 4455,manufactured in 91.
It have some gearbox problem,only saw it in pictures.
Owner says that Hi range speed dont works from 1-5,and 12-15.
Low range speed works fine(as he says).
I want to know does anyone have expirience with similar gearboxes repairing on deere?
As i researched ,it is speed shift gearbox,and it dont look so hard to rebuild it.
Iam not mechanic,but have some expirience,and some siblings of mine are mechanics,but cars and trucks related.
So i want to know is that deere worth 6500euros,is not final price,and i know our deere dealers are to expencive for this job,but i can quote them for it.

C1 clutch pack is out. You can buy a reman C1 pack here in the states for around $3k.
That's about all I know about 15 spd powershift. So if you're doing the work and if the engine is tight I would say its seems reasonable price.

I really dont know is it able to buy C1 pack in Europe,but if is available,it is much more than 3k$(hope iam wrong)..

Or you can buy the internals for a lot less than a reman pack, download a service manual and rebuild it yourself

That is the best option,
I just quoted dealer for parts price,so will post when i will recieve it.

It's over 30 years old, so what's the rest of it like? You could open it it, find nothing else wrong, it be a relatively cheap fix and leave you with a useable, if old, tractor. You could also open it up and find a mechanical apocalypse of hell in there with the clutch pack issue the tip of an expensive iceburg. Do you feel lucky?

Owner says everything other works fine ,just hi range have malfunction.
Didnt see it in person,but will go to see it.
Really want to hear other opinions,because here in Croatia you can buy really bad tractor for a lot money,because a lot of used tractors are in "perfect" condition..but very few of them have real condition described,and owner write that has some malfunction.
So is better buy crap tractor for less money,or crap for a lot of money?
