John Deere 6230 premium PTO problems

Location
Devon
6230 premium round baling the PTO keeps cutting out.

Error codes 186-02 and 2408-19 keep coming up. ( says electrical fault )

I have located the PTO speed sensor but where is the PTO solenoid located?

Thanks

Check the switch on the mudguard it can stop the pto working. Check the switch in the cab. You might be able to swap the pto solenoid for 4wd or diff lock one to get you going. Can’t remember where they are at one is to the right of the top link if I remember right pto one should be nearby

Yea no switch on the mudguard

I can see a solenoid to the top right of the top link, has a sensor on the top of it but not sure what that one is for?

Think that’s the pto one. If it’s working it will be magnetic when it’s switched on. Put something metal over it with pto switched on. Switch in the cab prone to trouble too

Check the wires running to the solenoid. I had similar issues once. The wire going to the solenoid was rubbing off a hydraulic pipe, and had rubbed through. I just taped it up in the field.

Now Then..
Beware of most advice.. BCU000186.02 is 'PTO speed sensor open circuit'. EPC002408.19 is 'incorrect CAN BUS message, Rear PTO engagement from BCU'..
Don't swap any solenoids, none are the same and the fault is with the speed sensor anyway..
Historically, the coil for the PTO and Diff lock were the same up to mid 20 series and yes it was possible to swap a coil, the actual valves were always different. A 30 Premium tractor uses a proportional solenoid for PTO engagement rather than an on/off one as on Standard tractors and 00/10/20 tractors.
So, the speed sensor is located under a guard, in front and level with the top of the PTO guard, under the top link bracket. It's very well protected. Have a look at the sensor and wiring, there may be something obvious. Try a new sensor AL204621, that may fix it.
Also, and firstly, I'd see if you could shake hands with the rear PTO shaft. It's not impossible for the Implement PTO shaft to damage the tractor shaft/bearings/housing etc thus damaging the speed sensor..

Going a bit off topic now...but does a proportional solenoid for PTO engagement offer smoother PTO start up, and could one be retro fitted to a 20 series?
