John Deere 6910 Head Gasket

Looking to know if changing a head gasket of a 6910 is a big/expensive job or not?

How long is a piece of string ?? Depends entirely what you find when it's stripped. Ranging from literally slipping a new hg in to a complete head overhaul to finding a cracked piston...

Depends who does it too. JD dealership quoted me £3500 to do a 6920 five years ago!
Local mechanic did it for me in the end, less than £1000 including sending head off for skimming.

Did ours this year (6920). 200-250 quid for a skim etc. Did it ourselves over a few days, what made it expensive was a new charge cooler because it had split.

In this case, the 6910 doesnt have a charge cooler afaik.

I still struggle to see how a dealership got close to quoting £3500, when the gasket kit (from them) is only just over £200 iirc.

And the dealers don't use the genuine gaskets any more
