They don’t seem to like mud. This one has already “detracked” a couple times as well.
Has 10 leg subsoiler at 8 inches.

I have a video but don't know how to post it

Depends on forward speed 9kph was the aim.

5%wheel slip was highest I saw
Aim for 10k but in the real heavy stuff 8 is more realistic. No idea about wheel slip as she's no that technical it's more of a does what it says on the tin with no gadgets kinda machine

Can I just ask ?

Why is a tractor like that pulling such a narrow planter ?

we only plant canola ( rape ) about 25 - 40 mm deep, that tractor would be pulling 12 metres here easily

I pull 12 m planters easily with a NH T8040 & a mate of mine pulls a 12 m flexicoil tyne planter with a JD 8400 . . .

It has subsoiling legs as well , it was making it drop to 5kph on some of the headlands.

The tractor was brand new last month so maybe it will be made bigger for next season?

Try driving a 12m planter on Devon lanes might be one reason !

well if that was the case, you could use a smaller tractor

my question was why THAT tractor on such a narrow planter

if you are restricted by size, fine, but then use appropriate horsepower in front of it surely ?
Short weather window and hp just isn't what it used to be I don't know anyone who buys the appropriate hp these days so we all have much more than we should need now 😉

we have very strict transport regulations of Ag machinery here & require 2 escort vehicles for anything over 4.8 metres wide.

Anything moved on road has to have narrow transport widths

we would lose the farm trying to drive 12 m down the road

Depends what other tractors are avaliable.

Matching machine to tractor without a constant switching of operator is sometimes sub optimal

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
