Got a problem with a couple of these as they feel like oil has leaked into the cable, as work perfect when pushed forward but feel spongey with resistance and are hard to get to work when pulled backwards as sometimes work OK and sometimes not or even just work very slowly which is a pain as the worst one is the hitch spool and I have been swapping trailers all day and it's been annoying .
Any simple repair?

There is a small o-ring that goes on the bottom of the spool that can fail leaking oil into the cables. Replace o-ring and clean cables out best you can and all will be ok

What model tractor?? I'll presume it's a 20 series.... As mentioned, there's an O-ring in the bottom of the spools. Remove the cable & adaptor plate, genuine O-ring, then back together. No need to clean cables, eh

Talked to my dealer this morning who advised drilling a very small hole in the cone under the spool valve which is part of the cable. Had to just drop cable of by undoing the nut and then the cone and all works well now.

I had stiff levers on my 6410. Pickup hitch was fine. Had to fit 2 new cables. Didn’t have any oil leaking. Seems to of cured the problem. Sometimes they can get rusty under the top black cap. Three little ball bearings need de rusting and grease lubrication. Careful you don’t lose them if you take cap off. Make sure it goes back together exactly as it came apart.

Easy enough to change cables. Take plastic trim side panel off down by seat. Undo silver cable housing from bottom of spool block. Held on by Allen bolts. Tie piece of string to end of old cable. Pull out, and pull new cable back through with string. Black cap is knob used to adjust detent for constant pump on spool. Maybe different on 6400?

Our 7530 has this intermittent fault, push/pull lever and nothing happens, release and try again and will work, then same again a few minutes later. Repeat x100 in a days baling.

Is that likely to be this o-ring?

The AHDB Planting and Variety Survey provides the earliest view of the planted area for the upcoming harvest in the United Kingdom (UK).

Complete the Planting and Variety Survey

The survey will estimate the area of cereals and oilseed rape intended for harvest in 2022 in the UK. It aims to assess the varietal composition of wheat, barley, oats and oilseed rape crops in the UK. The results of this survey will allow the industry to quantify domestic production, at a time when food security is more important than ever.
The information can be used to shape the domestic market and trade and assist levy payers in their marketing decisions. It will detail regional differences of cropping across the UK, which will help...
