Need to change bearings on our depth wheel of conventional John Deere/Overum branded plough.

Cant see how it comes apart as all looks like one piece? Anyone have an idea

Thanks

Is there anything like an internal circlip set inside the yellow casting to stop it sliding off the bearing?

Do you know the model name/number for the plough. The parts diagrams on deere's online parts catalogue can be very helpful for showing what parts are actually there and how they fit together. I haven't tried searching to see if the catalogue includes rebranded kit from other manufacturers though.

It looks like one of those design ideas that walks a fine line between genius and insanity. I'm not sure I've ever before seen a grease nipple used to hold components together.

Is part 19 a seal or a bearing?
Just a seal,

It's only the ball bearings the hub runs on, seems the grease holds it all together

What are you doing about the bearing then? Seems like the whole arm (part 13) and the cast hub (6) are the bearing wearing parts along with those balls (20).
We thought a bearing had gone originally but seemed just a lack of grease, now we have taken out the ball bearings, cleaned it up and put it back together with new grease. It's running much better

The shaft is 40mm so we have thought about putting on a flanged bearing and modifying the depth wheel to fit a proper bearing. Will see how it goes first though.
