Hi all.the Pto stopped today on my 6830 standard.it has 2000 hours.i replaced the pto switch ..made no difference. I checked tge fender buttons.the fuse is ok. Very strangley I'm not getting the pto light to come on on the dash or even flash so this has me puzzled.i know the solinoid behind can give trouble..but I think the dash light should still flash.it never gave any problems before or any intermittent problems.any ideas ?

Wiring OK for the sensor above the pto?

Now Then..
Does the diff lock and MFWD still work correctly?? A bulb failure will only stop the light, not the actual pto. You have the mechanical PTO gear selected correctly I assume??

Disconnect the PTO solenoid, turn the PTO on, that should make the bulb flash. There's no point testing voltage at the pto solenoid, the BCU will instantly detect an error and supply no power. Have you tested for 12v at the red wire (0432) at the pto switch??

OK, test for 12v at the PTO switch. Having just looked in the ol' tech manual, I see it's actually a red wire (0432) supplying the 12v ..
The PTO bulb can, and does fail, possibly on tractors which do more PTO work. As I said, it won't stop the PTO from working..

Make sure you don't get the selenoid at the dealer if you need one. Well at least ask the price first. Needed one for my 6910, €600.
And don’t buy a cheepo chinesium one,I did! it didn’t work and I waited six weeks.😡

Next one came off Nick Young.👍

Now, I've just had a look at the solenoid replacement options here.
A 6010 series tractor would mist commonly have the earlier type solenoid valve where the coil can be replaced without the valve at a cost of £156.03 from a dealer.
The newer round type is a more expensive replacement. Nick Young has them listed at £434.50 plus postage. The JD dealer list price of a genuine one is £436.01.. All plus VAT of course. However, most customers will claim the VAT back..
So,,,,,,, why not support your local dealer?? If you get on well with your dealer, there may even be a discount for parts ordered on a stock order and settled promptly..

So I have power at the pto switch. And I have power coming from it when I activate the switch also.so its after that the problem is.if the solenoid was gone would the pto light still flash ? Or if the fender wire was broke would the bulb still flash?
Is there a way to check the bulb that it's working...when u start up ignition the pto light doesn't light but I think that's normal because I have a 6630 standard and that does tge same but tge light comes on in operation and it also flashes if I disconnect the solenoid

I do support the local dealer, just not the clearly made up prices JD makes the dealer charge the customers for certain parts.
I needed a part that was clearly not made by JD but only available through a JD dealer, it was stupid money. I could've gotten the whole thing far less then the price of the part so I was planning on that. Meanwhile my father ordered is through JD without my knowledge so I told him to cancel it. Well, my father did cancel it but the JD dealer did an oopsie and forgot to cancel. JD charges a 30% or so penalty on part returns so they had a part on their shelf which was likely going to sit there forever. I felt kind of bad for them and hadn't yet ordered the replacement so I asked what they where willing to sell it to me for. Dealer figured a €10 mark up on what they paid was reasonable. End of the story: I paid €130 on a €120 part that had a list price of €300 but would've cost €90 generically for the total assembly.
I really like my JD dealer but come on!
