Slightly off the topic of JD but watching the Doe online auction and hardly any large items like tractors and combines have sold. Surely that in itself is enough of a message to the machinery industry enough is enough with these stupidly high prices.
I’ve been watching it too and agree with you.maybe Doe’s put too higher reserves on items.I was going to buy a chainsaw and saw their special show price but after checking elsewhere I bought one substantialy cheaper of eBay and delivered free.

There was 6 items I was looking at. All of them were to high reserve, so I didn’t bid.

Nobody has to buy any machine if its to dear that has all ways been the case if its to dear then dont buy.
All the big ticket items are only built to order and the manufacture do not build for there stock so if its to dear then dont buy.

Yes prices have gone silly, but auctions are usually best for smaller items and a lot of deals are done by private treaty afterwards, I know as I was an underbidder on something and was contacted and managed to agree something. Have also done this with a car auction before. Who in their right mind is going to buy a combine for 300k at auction, but maybe it at least generates interest?

What becomes of Jcb I wonder!

Colin Smart sold a lot of Fastracs & JCB forklifts. I know he was being put under pressure to sell Kramers when JD first took them on. New Forest had recently been binned by Manitou UK who are just down the road, so they were glad of the Kramer franchise. I don't know what Hunts used to sell.

Oakes Bros will cover the Hunts end of their patch. I don't know who will do the west & north. RSM?

Hunts used to sell used Jcb’s out of the back door from MP hire until Kramer came along. Farmers around here WILL not deal with Oakes so lord knows.
My Jcb finance man said Smarts were Jcb’s biggest dealer.

The trouble is that jd are still selling the numbers at the stupidly high price as you call them, talking to my 2 local dealers they have had the best run up to Christmas for years but then other dealers are saying it been terrible.

I haven’t followed all this but who is merlo now in east anglia?

Cranworth Norwich way and Day and Coles Wellingborough. Massive gap in the middle.
Day and Coles 40mins from us.
It’s the only thing putting me off Merlo at the moment, the new ones look quite good.
Suspect there will be some changes to that soon though knowing the new man in charge.

It’s no wonder some machines are hard to sell.no stability in the dealer network.manitou in my area was Doe’s then Ben burgess and now tns.seems merlo gets passed around regularly and same with deutz who I’m sure woukd sell plenty of tractors if dealers kept agency’s for a long while.some dealers are not the same as others and service obviously suffers if you have a machine from one and then have to go elsewhere after previous dealer lost agency
