John Deere reducing dealerships

Having just got back from France a couple of days ago it seems that JD have a different opinion on the size of their dealerships over there, look like quite small affairs with maybe 2 or 3 new tractors out front , certainly not 100 million euro turnover affairs and I doubt anywhere near the 25 million turnover English dealers are supposed to be at the moment,,,,,,,,,, one rule for us and another rule for our tyre burning neighbours maybe

But does the same dealer own 30 such depots therefore achieving the required turnover?

Brexit, should have stayed in............

From my limited time living here in soggy France it strikes me that there are main dealers but then lots of smaller independent dealers who act as sub dealers. For example our closest Massey dealer is about 15kms away, he is not on the Massey official dealer site but acts as a sub dealer to the main dealer, he only officially holds machinery franchises but still goes round selling Massey. Perhaps that is how they get around it?

Pretty sure that happens here as well but within the same business, some of the main tractor dealer sites are service centres instead of franchised dealerships not that the farmer will notice anything different.

Certainly although some of the smaller car dealerships look like franchises they have to buy from a main dealer rather than the manufacturer.

To be fair if it’s the sales man that I think it is RB, then fair play to him as it must have been a real hard decision to leave Sharmans, but fair play to him as it shows that he believes in what he’s selling rather than just changing his coat for a case it and pretending they are the dogs nads.

it’s just such a shame that JD have taken the move they did.
