Don't know I'm in H&P country. H&P flog a fair bit of gear south of the river into Heulers country. But every one I know complains about H&P and still buys green.

that’s right, most people in northern NSW / southern QLD buy green ( JD ) cos it’s JD green, regardless of who the dealer is

dealers come & go, but people, especially the big broadacre, row crop & irrigation farmers here keep buying green

it’s the machine, not the dealer . . .

used to have Tincknells just up the road, 2 miles. That went, Smarts then, 25 miles away, they have now gone, and Hunt forest now, they had a 'lawn mower etc' place, 3 miles away, you could get parts delivered there, now that's shut down.

so apart from 1 jd, all New Holland now, 2 different franchises quite close, 5 miles and 16 miles away.

jd, would charge £120 hour, plus mileage, to come out, very often 2 people, so £240 hr, + mileage, + parts, then, if needing a part, back out again. 25 miles of bad road, takes time.

NH are a bit better, but 5 miles, and 1 person. Never even asked for a quote, from jd, for the last few replacements. Priced themselves out of our pocket.

Swanky new branch for Hunt Forest on top of Mendip at Green Ore.

Cheddar used to be closest, but maybe Nether Stowey now.

Good job we've got a couple of local chaps who can cobble something together to keep us going! Recently 4wd wouldn't cut out on JD - tracked fault to relay - swapped with diff lock relay. Ok 'til we need both! 😂

Dont qoute me but i have this fron a good source, Deere is changing its warehouse model to having dealers have there own central to all there dealerships.

This allows for mote parts on the ground for what the dealer sells, the dealer will then get the parts direct shipped and not via deere warehousing, at a reduced price which a % will go to covering the dealers warehouse.

It makes no sense for deere themsleves to have there own warehouses for each dealer.

Pretty sure we will see this come into play soonish.

which will be fine, if you farm close to one !

branches of all firms now seem to carry little stock, all on overnight delivery, or longer, if a one off, or specialist bit. Some parts, for some kit, are unobtainable, firms that made them, for the brand, have ceased trading, that's the risk of firms outsourcing components.

huge amount of components are made in the far east, and assembled in factories here. As the world seems to be getting more dangerous by the day, if further conflicts breakout, or present ones spreading, there is likely to be a serious knock on effect in sourcing spare parts.

its quite shocking if you look on bits, to see how much is made in China. And China is increasingly accused of 'interfering' in the west's affairs, from electronics, mobile phones etc. China is increasingly threatening our 'allies' from that region, if we fall out .......... country will grind to a halt !!

It is all about cutting cost and it has happened before big brother is calling the shoots
Wait and there will be a collapse in the dealer trade then see the rats run
The accountants are running the show with some of them and have never seen a turn down in trade before and the big manufactures are doing the pushing it is not the dealers wanting to get bigger
From little Acorns big Oak trees grow this has been 20 years + in the making

JD's last full accounts, it really looks like they're struggling.

"For fiscal-year 2022, net income attributable to Deere & Company was $7.131 billion, or $23.28 per share, compared with $5.963 billion, or $18.99 per share, in fiscal 2021. Worldwide net sales and revenues increased 37 percent, to $15.536 billion, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2022 and rose 19 percent, to $52.577 billion, for the full year."

I would guess that their dealers are not increasing sales and revenues by that much.
Does anyone have any figures?
