Keyless car crime

i have never liked keyless ignition, never mind theft, I can never find the keys that were always conveniently stored in a slot in the dash in the past

all cars seem to have it these days, daft idea, tech for tech's sake IMO
Incredible from my point of view - we don't even bother to lock our house!
I will take keys out of vehicles if we are away for the day but that's it...

Still in 1965 down here, last time we had an intruder - it was the neighbour putting a basket of laundry inside because it rained and they knew we were out

UK' is not all bad and high crime - our house is rarely locked and neither are cars, we do remove keys though as insurance is invalid without.

Most thieves probably have better stuff than we do anyway!
Security is a popular myth, it only keeps out the honest.
Likewise it's only for insurance purposes I remove keys, I leave them in ignitions so I can find them (n)

Surely this would warrant a claim against the car manufacturers. If someone pays £90,000 for a Mercedes AMG, then some chav steals it using a eBay purchased device, surely the manufacturer must be liable.

After all no one has forced the car manufacturers to abandon physical car keys, as a secondary security measure.

It is their poor judgement and they should be held responsible.

Apparently you now need to keep your key fob in a special aluminium lined bag so the thieves can't pick up a signal.

The manufacturers should do a recall and fit ignition barrels, even my 15 year old ford escort van, which is rotting away in the field has a key with a chip inside and is probably more secure then the latest Mercedes (n):scratchhead:

Yes either that or the car makers will have to supply a steering lock that covers the steering wheel.
