It could be underneath the body?
Watch out for rust in the rear subframe and the brake covers at the rear
Theres an adjustment nut at the leverSurely you adjust it at the brake drums/discs.
No, they should be self adjusting as they work as service brake aswell or oedal travel would be affected. Adjusting the nut only compensates for the stretch in the cablesSurely you adjust it at the brake drums/discs.

No the handbrake is a drum brake inside the caliper on a sportage, not a great designNo, they should be self adjusting as they work as service brake aswell or oedal travel would be affected. Adjusting the nut only compensates for the stretch in the cables

No. The handbrake operates on shoes inside the disc/drum. There should be a rubber grommet which you remove and then adjust the star wheel with a screwdriver until the drum binds then slacken off slightly. Adjust both sides the same. The adjustment nut at the lever is just to take up the slack in the single cable going to the lever. No, they should be self adjusting as they work as service brake aswell or oedal travel would be affected. We put new discs and pads on the rear recently and adjusted up the shoes which were good enough but something must be seized either the cable or the thing it goes onto as noneffort on the left side atalNo. The handbrake operates on shoes inside the disc/drum.
