Does anyone else think that these knock on point are actually more time consuming than 2 bolts whizzed on with an air gun.

I know in the field they maybe a little quicker, but you are only going to be changing the odd one and a spanner isn’t hard for a couple of bolts.

Make sure you ware safety glasses as well, I know of someone that had some metal go in there eye from hitting points off a plough, very painful. Who has safety glasses in the tractor with, if a quick fix is needed in the field.

Hopeless things I had a set on a plough once on demo kv they're too wide and flat to go into hard dry ground. And bloody expensive to run having to buy 3 parts instead of 2.
The last ploughs have been swapped to reversible points before they were delivered I won't even run a set off now

So if you were to reverse a few inches with the plough in the ground, would they come off?

I learnt as a young lad, in the early sixties, not to do that. I started my ploughing using a Ransomes plough. The shares were supposed to be held on with a wooden peg. They would come off if you hit a stone. I used to hammer a nail through the peg, which helped.

When bolt on shares came along, the problem was solved.

Speedy gonzalez! I find it takes 3x as long as that on a 5 furrow:X3:
Some folk can make simple tasks look difficult and take a long time about it tho;)

He's not far off I can get my dinner change/turn my points on my 5 furrow and be ploughing again in 30 mins

There’s no room to get the impact gun or even a socket at the nuts on the points of our Gregor besson

so it’s a 19mm spanner job  then there usually to retighten again not long after
