Krone Tedder clutch problem

My 6 rotor krone Tedder starts slipping and banging as soon as it hits heavy grass. I’ve narrowed it down to the clutch on pto shaft does it act as a clutch and overrun or should it be just an overrun and is it hard tighten it??

Probably clutch been greased to much ,I had this and ended up with a new clutch and now give it 1 pump once a year and it solves the problem ?

Most tedder problems reported on here are narrowed down to forward speed being to fast.

It could be the pawls worn in the clutch if it’s been pushed in a heavy lumpy or wet crop previously. Once them type of clutches have slipped for a while they slip at lower torque and the problem gets worse

How old is it? Maybe the housing is a bit worn so the pawls ride over the ramps too easily now. Are you driving too fast for the crop?

It’s an old Tedder I was turning very light grass yesterday and couldn’t pass 6km per hour it was torture. Probably just worn out with age so

You can get a set of new springs for them clutches quite reasonable, can be 2 for each pawl , one inside the other. Have even tightened them in the past by putting a halfpenny under the springs.

How much would it cost roughly for a new clutch? Might be the quickest option
