Hi All,

Just started considering upgrading our spreader and very keen on a geospread personally. Ideally want to go for a 4 bag machine given the the expense is really on the tech side and was wondering whether the TL 1500 or 1875 would be the better option with various extensions. Also wondering if anyone has gone down the route of a Tellus go with kvernlands DGPS antenna to provide guidance and section control and how they've got on with it. For context this would be our first weigh cell/section control machine going from a 1500L all manual job with boarder spread only.

I've had both my first was the narrower 1 second is the wider both been good spreaders. I use tellus with kv global receiver and get on fine with it

I would've had the tellus go if it wasn't for the larger tellus was a free upgrade back in 2017 when I got my first one but the go is an excellent box and in some ways better than the larger tellus

Thanks, in what ways is the go a better box?

It's got buttons to press so you can feel what you're trying to do rather than having to look at it and the smaller screen is less prone to glare I'd say

I've kept my big tellus to go with my new 1 but if I had to change I'd just get a go next time

I went from a standard Amazone zam to a tl geo with go screen and there dome . Was originally just going to get a non geo tl with the weigh cell but dealer was pushing the geo and have to say I have no regrets .absolutely love the section control and it’s so accurate it’s unbelievable ! Never been more than 3 kg/ha out with target rate . On my third season with it now and love it .
Also saving a bit on Fert as well which is really important with current Fert prices . Only downside for me is washing it as there are so many nooks and cranny’s to clean .

Can the tellus do guidance?

Mine doesn't have that capability.

I know when we bought it originally they were talking about the possibility.

We have a TL Geospread, very accurate and the Tellus Go screen is very good but washing it does my head in, all the nooks and crannies it doesn’t matter how careful you are, you park it up and it looks just as dirty.

I find the hosepipe is just as good if not better than the pressure washer. More flow of water to dissolve it all, and it doesn't splash all over everywhere like blasting it with the pressure washer.

I always find that after washing it there's always bits of fertilizer appearing, falling off ledges ect the following day!

My 2015 one wasn't too bad to wash the latest ones are worse as they've put more plastic guard's onto them that fit tighter to make them look nicer but they don't help washing them that's for sure

Well, gave ours a blast with the pressure washer and finished off with the hose certainly better than blasting fertilizer from one place to another!
Found an old jcb coolant hose that has a right angle bend which pushes on the end of our pressure washer really helps get in the nooks and crannies.

What have you got now and is it for sale?

We've got a sulky at the moment. Can't remember what model it is but off the top of my head it's around a 2007, spreads to 24m. I'm fairly sure it's a 1500l machine as it just holds 3×500kg bags or 2×600kg. It's pretty basic with 2 spool valves to shut off each side but does have the electric tribord system on the RHS for boarder spreading. It's in reasonable condition for it's age, just starting to rust through in a couple of corners, but other wise there's no widespread paint blistering. Always been washed out after each use. It's had a couple of things over the years including a new tribord control box (just a button) and new agitator shaft and assembly after a bearing collapsed but nothing excessive for a 15yo machine.

It will probably be up for sale if we do sort out a new one (going to have a chat about a KV this friday) but we will want to hold onto it until the new one arrives. We haven't put any fert on this year yet either so it will probably be used for that over the coming days/weeks as there will likely be some lead time on a different machine.
