Hi,

I gave a couple of kade lambs away to a family friend, so there daughter could look after them......however one lamb has terrible joint ill (so swollen it can’t bend the knee or walk)

so about a week ago the joint ill started showing in the lamb’s front left knee, so gave it 5 days of treatment (Synulox and Meloxicom). however after 5 days the joint ill has got worst, so the vet said to start the treatment again.....the joint ill is this bad and the other knee looks like it’s starting to swell!

any advice???
I know it should be properly put down, but it’s still drinking and it’s now someone’s pet!

Thanks

When the infection spreads it resides in the joints and produces cysts in them. I think it goes to some of the organs too if I remember correctly. If tret too late or if it doesn’t respond to treatment then no hope really

I think you should take the lamb back home for treatment, and a few days later return it to your friends' daughter fit and well, just like has happened with countless budgies.

And if you want to cheer her up, ask her ''what breakfast cereal do you get if you run over your budgie with the lawn mower?''

Answer is ''Shredded Tweet'' (with due acknowledgement to the Vicar of Dibley)

But Alice didn't think that was very funny.
