Land Rover discovery diagnostic tool

Does anyone have a diagnostic tool that would do both and what would you recommend. Just to read the error codes and then remove them when I’ve carried out the repairs. Thanks in advance

By far the best the for disco 2 is nanocom. They come up second hand for £2-300 on marketplace and eBay every so often. Cheap generic ones will read engine codes but if you want to read abs/ traction and code keys injectors and immobiliser then nanocom is best. Not sure it’s as good for disco 3 or 4 though

I’ve got an Autel MK808 maxipro Bluetooth, never been stuck with it yet, it’s amazing the amount of DTC’s that are active without showing any warning signs on the dash on numerous vehicles.

I've bought a cheap £40 autel reader off eBay, works on my disco 4 and the wife's disco sport. It's small enough it gets kept in the car just incase.

Alternatively keep an eye on eBay/marketplace and buy anything snap on, autel etc a year or so newer than your current car. Usually cheap as chips as people sell them to buy one with newer updates.

We bought a snap on one off Facebook market place for 200 quid -works perfect but internal battery is done so only works when plugged in but that’s not a problem obviously!ours is a snap on SOLUS and does up to 2015 vehicles ,used it on disco two and three with great success but will come equipped for most vehicles
I’ve set a saved search up on eBay for one and a nanocom. See if any reasonably priced ones come up.
I’ve got the 3 amigos atm. It can’t be wheel bearings as I replaced them last year so probably a sensor

Yep can be lots of things !had two shuttle valves in recent years that were putting all three on and a few sensors…we had some problems this last time we put bearings on that they had too much grease in when manufactured and this can set the abs sensors off too …that’s particularly frustrating on td5 as the sensor isnt easy to get in and out☹️that set of bearings removed had only been on 30000 miles three years

Also oil in ecu plug can set them off if the injector wiring is allowing oil into the loom if not been changed recently the oil gathers in the plug at ecu end once there is enough in there it then shorts and can do the ecu

Now Then..
I bought one of these 3 years ago. I wanted something to read most codes, from most cars, which this seems to do. It gets updates now and then. And there are no subscriptions to pay..

I’ve got Bluetooth iid tool for d4 can literally re program stuff like ride height add tow bar add rear camera etc very good tool perhaps beyond what you need, also really nice to use.
It will also read and clear faults on any Landrover I’ve ever tried to use it on.

Nanocom or LR testbook about the best for a d2, especially if yours has ACE,

For the D4 iid is the daddy. Can be vin locked which makes it abit more affordable.

Don't bother with anything sub £200.
