Landrover for sale Very Soon!!

Years ago when top gear was worth Watching ,Quentin Wilson was one
of the presenters and he is an expert on car sales,I remember him saying owners selling their vehicles usually have inflated ideas about value but a car is only worth what the next owner is prepared to pay and not a penny more

Totally agree with this but with something like this you also know what its worth to yourself and when you have had it for such a time and not needing to sell it im sure it wont loose money only go up in value.
Unless the classic car Market colappses after Brexit!!!

Ring Robert Graham at RKG Landrovers in Dumfries and Galloway

He often has unique Landies for sale and might indicate a value for you

He might even sell it on a commission for you ?
I am sure this man is genuine as @JP1 recomends him, but beware of others offering this service. One large independent dealer who does had a LR from a friend of mine on his forecourt for a year with no joy. My friend came to the conclusion they made no actual effort to sell it , just plumped up the front.
the LR defender market is very strange.

I can vouch for the company, and Robert. Through my grandmother - we are related.

Roots firmly in farming - the business is ran from the family farm. They are Specialists in LR, but have branched into other makes in more recent times

To the OP - this brings back an awful lot of fond memories. Growing up, dad had one identical, but in dark green. Petrol with the split rear door. Ours was X reg, IIRC.

It looks like you've done a beautiful job.

It wont be going any were at 5 to 7 k as its dry stored and can stay there for years to come but for around the 10k mark it would be nice to see it go to some one that will enjoy using it.

I think the Defender market has peaked now
Prices aren't what they were 2 years ago
Yep, silly prices are still being asked but not selling
Older ones like yours have a niche though, like classic Tractors
However the classic market for cars and other stuff will dwindle once the 40-60 year olds get it out of their system and grow older

Youngsters don't have the same nostalgia for vehicles that we do

Don't keep it too long, as prices may fall

Once the market for petrol and diesel vehicles diminishes- classic vehicles will take a hit too and companies are already looking to convert combustion engined classic vehicles to electric power, to save the planet

Don't be too sure of that.
You're failing to see/grasp the whole point of nostalgia.
The things which younger generations will grow nostalgic over, arent yet old enough to be nostalgic about yet.

Prime example, dad lusts over old tractors and cars from the 60's - whereas me, it's tractors and cars from the 80's and 90's... my 5yr old nephew will be nostalgic of the cars, tractors etc which are being produced now

Are you sure about your 5 year old?

My 19 year old isn't bothered one jot

Combustion engines will be phased on in the next 10-15 years

Those seats don't belong in a series 3 nor does that rubber sound proofing. If you are expectin10k needs to be original and clean. And a new heating lever???

No they won't. There is not enough progress being made to do away with the combustion engine in such a short period of time. The 2040 timeframe is ambitious...

If he grows up around them, then yes - he will. I know plenty of 18-25yr olds who have interest in cars and tractors of recent years. There's still boy racers in town now, just like when I was 18.

1 19yr old having no interest is not the mark of an entire generation...

The heater lever is authentic, dad's old one was the same :ROFLMAO:

Should be the right seats but I don't think the sound deadening will detract from the price

They will be phased out of production for light cars, vans and power tools, but the ones in use will remain in use for many decades after that, with decreasing utilisation of course as time passes and more are scrapped and become more collector's items.
Just because your kids aren't currently interested, they might be as they mature and a heck of a lot of people from all walks of life are interested in older machinery and cars and all kinds of stuff to collect and preserve for the future. That is hardly likely to change much.

He's goes out with his mates in their cars, but that's just A to B

Girls are more appealing
