now then
years back in practical farm ideas a guy did this so he had a reverse drive forklift based on something like a fordson.

I used to drive an old forklift based on a industrial fergy, had a good hydraulic pump that ran a weed brush, can't remember if it had a pto though.

After being scared by the prices of lawn tractors I'm thinking of making a reverse drive Fordson Major (or Dexta) that could have a 3 pt linkage mounted mower and be an excuse for another Major.

I saw a reverse drive major in the 80's close to @massey765 's patch and it should just be a case of spinning the diff and making a linkage for the steering.
If @Dave W would watch out for a mower I'd be sorted.

Meanwhile the grass will be 20 feet high by the time I make it. :(

Best just carry on looking for a proper mower.
A neighbour did this with a major to make a forklift.
Turn over diff, power steering avoids the need for lots of linkage (drive pump from end of crank) and makes the steering much more user friendly, swap seat and fuel tank around, move battery for more seat space, extend gear levers, hydraulic cylinder for clutch, hydraulic cylinders for brakes. A dexta would be more manuvorable than a major for mowing ! I 'assume' diff in a dexta can be turned over in the same way !!!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
