I did this when I started I had 600m new of Tramspread then 600m second hand for £5 a meter and another 300m later if I was doing it again I’d borrow a bit more money and have all new pipe and save a lot of hassle with patches on sh pipe, also don’t bother with Bauer couplings go for stortz I wish I had and am going to Change when I can

5 inch delivery hose, 4 inch drag hose will dramatically improve output Speak to Tramspread, they usually have some used pipe

Thank you for your reply’s I have heard storz fittings are good and was already thinking of 5 inch feedout and drag 4 inch.We have only been contracting 4 years and everything we by is from scratch no trade ins so the slurrykat reeler dribble bar combo secondhand is attractive it’s all grassland work in sw Scotland a big paddock is 25 acre when I worked for local contractor many years ago 1200 meters would get most of it done. I looked at a Doda hd 35?

If time is on your side, second hand hose will work ,you can glue sleeves on it and sort it if you have the time to do it if not just buy new hose as said before and use storz couplings, doda L35 and 35HD both good pumps but a Bauer may be better in the long run

I have used Bauer in the past the seal was always bother I always washed it out every night in at the back of gear box there was always strung and odd stuff getting in the back of the impeller too although everyone has new lagoons now so less of a problem yeah will need to do some hunting I think I don’t mind a bit of hassle in the field even cutting of ends and putting long sleeves on with quads for a start off but definitely buying 800 meters of new for steading s and farm tracks

There’s a reason slurry kat kit is cheap second hand ... you’ll want too drive off the edge of a cliff after a couple days using it... awful awful kit fit for no more than a couple
Days a year by a dairy farmer....

Buy proper kit and buy it once and it’ll
Last you 5 years with the right man on the seats with odd bits of maintenance...

Give mark white at slurry mate a call he’s a very helpful fella and will put you in the picture on running costs and what your likely too need to get up and running....

We’ve some pipe that’s 8-9 years old and still going strong.. the pump is the difficult bit we run a Bauer and re build it twice a year sometimes 3 times and have a new one every year... our slurry mate dribble bar is 3 year old and has cost us about £50 in that 3 years...

I had a Bauer pump and went to criman/blueline better pump to own, didn’t notice any difference in output.

Never buy secondhand pipe, always new. Learnt from bitter experience.
Only ever used 6” supply and 4” drag hose.
Oroflex 30 6” supply and Angus Dragmaster 4” drag hose.
And unless you’re dealing with very watery material, always consider a positive displacement pump. Much more efficient than centrifugal.

On another note, why the hell anyone would want to run an umbilical in this day and age is beyond me!

I’ve run slurry Kat reelers and tankers from 2012 and never had a problem with their kit.

What glue do you use for the patches? Is it strong enough to hold them in place indefinitely?

tape was some i seen on the net one day So bought some & the glue is in a can will take a photo of it next time I mind on
if the hole is not so big the tape its self will sort it

Iv wrapped a corn bag around the pipe while it’s not under pressure and tied it up tight with baling twine before and it’s sealed up when the pipe pressurised and tightened the baling twine up haha
