Absolutely first class machine , we have a 12 meter version and cover many thousands of acres with it each year. The hook tines are indestructible we haven't broken one yet !! Ours teds both silage and hay and does a good job in both.

I do like the hooked tines not kicking alot of acres to justify a new one

When I was looking for a 4 rotor Lely two years ago, anything half tidy wasn’t far off new price, if you could find one.
I decided to go for a new one but the local dealer had a Malone sat there side by side. It was a bit dearer again, with same hook tine concept but the frame is so much stronger.
I doubt you’ll find a decent one of either secondhand at reasonable money.

I bought a four rotor from a dealer. Clearly an ex-contractor machine and looking very sad, but it was cheap (£1,000) which is within my price range.

The tines were out of sync and clattering, so I dropped the rotors and removed about two bucket of old grass. The worst part was getting the roll pins out.

It works like a charm despite the rough exterior!

I have a lely 770 which is for sale, not advertised yet, had it for a couple of years, probably done 500 acres max, stored inside from new and doesn’t look any different to the day it came, any offers?

My local dealer has started stocking some Malone's. I had a good look at them at Lamma and they seem really well made. How do you get on with yours? I need to change my Kverneland this season and may go for a Malone but slightly nervous as no one around here has one!

Pleased enough with it and no reason to regret my decision. It teds well and it still looks like the day it arrived, but can’t say much more than that.
I’ve used it in very heavy crops, and in ‘lawn clipping’ crops, and it’s coped with both. It can row up a bit in very thin crops, but I think all tedders have a tendency to do that. The headland management is really simple, so it actually gets used. You just move a lever on the back to rotate all 4 wheels at once, job done.

I don’t cut a vast acreage, and quite expect it to see out my time here.:)
