better fit they mended all the leaks on their side of the pipeline and replaced some pipe runs altogether, old steel /cast iron pipe around about breaks out at the slightest frost /ground movement .or built a new store for all this rain weve had recently .

soon will be on again about reservoirs being only half / three parts full etc etc :banghead:

Ex BIL was doing that years ago ,,meter reader for AW ,,just drove past the houses and his laptop registered every meter ,,think they were called Kent ,,a little sender unit on the wall
how will that work with farm ones like ours where the meter is out in a field by the road

AW estimate 3 quarters ,then they actually read it ,,estimates are not far out ,,sorts itself with the physical read
our use is fairly consistant annually and thats more or less what they do now, if it aint broke why fix it :banghead:

I am not a farmer but a good allotment keeper for the last 20 years. I received a similar letter from Severn Trent ignored it several times until they said they said they were going to install a new meter come what may. The 1st engineer replaced the meter and I had to call him back 5 times because of leaks. He had not a clue shortened one of the original pipes so that the compression joint would always leak, removed the earth wires not legal and just had no idea. The 2nd engineer did his best but it still leaked. I asked for another visit so Network Plus Severn Trent's contractor sent the 1st engineer I would not let him on the property. They eventually sent a 3rd engineer who appears to have stopped the leaks. Eight engineer visits in total. Severn Trent then billed me with an extra £80 as the £190 bill I had just paid was supposedly estimated. I believe engineer No1 had put the wrong readings in the new meter if he could actually read, I wrote to them an emailed them threatening litigation and eventually they agreed to waiver the £80 because of the problems that I had experienced.
My advice DON'T let them near it if it works otherwise you may get a duff engineer who has not a clue

If they do take your old meter out take a pic of the reading.
Changed ours & it took 12 months to get the account sorted. Even with my records inc a pic of the old meter
Contractors don`t record the old reading
I cannot agree enough with this point.

Time and date stamped photo worked wonders when arguing with WaterPlus and STW......
