Hi I have restored a leyland pto,do you need to bleed it the back end after putting it back on the tractor because my hydraulics is not working and it was before I removed the backend to repair the pto shifter.

Are you sure the pump is in gear? May be you have not connected the lever correctly. The back end should self bleed if the pump is working.
the pump was working 100 percent before i took it out, and the left however when taking the back end off to repair the pto lever selector repaired it and put it back in its now grinding and not going into to gear (the pto) unless as you say it may not be in gear however i checked the hydraulic filter and oil is pumping up that far

I only put my pto in gear when the engine is stopped, leave the stop out abs let it turn over while you slip her in gear

If its an earlier Leyland with the 3 position pto lever (Out, Hyd,PTO) then the lever needs to be in Hyd or PTO for the hydraulics to work. If you've put the lever back on the wrong splines then you may not get enough travel to move the selector into Hyd. If you've gone the opposite way - then you will get grinding as the shaft needs to go far enough back to the 'out' position. Hope that makes sense.
