We have a pole/mast for Line of Sight broadband on our ground. It is for a local collaborative broadband company, SWS. Our neighbours supply the power source to it, from their house. The cable isn't buried, just tucked tight into the hedge line to the pole, so not direct across the field to it. The pole is in the hedge too and is about 9ft tall. The payments to both us and our neighbours are very minimal, but we both have SWS broadband and also wireless phone service, via the mast. The LoS connection continues up and out of our valley to further on. I don't know if the OPis referring to a collaborative system, or not, but the clue is in the name!

The line of sight broadband here is now oversubscribed and drives me nuts .
I wouldn't use it again.

I suspect if you put a value on it, it will make it uneconomic for them.
It's the old 'do you like them, and do you think you might need some leverage in future argument IMO'

You need to take professional advice on this.

Practically, it's not difficult if the work is done correctly. I used to help host several poles for LoS microwave broadband but we owned the ISP business and the land. We just moled the power cables in (on land with no drainage schemes!) & put fibre cables in the trench too. You'd want a reliable power supply and a cooperative provider of that supply.

There was a community scheme in a local village with a self sufficient repeater mast on a hill top. It had a battery and solar panel but this adds unreliability and access issues but gets around a cabling problem. I think that they have fibre into the village now, so I don't know if it is still going. I think they put the fibre to the village receiver on the church tower where the transmitters are to the houses.

What do you mean by a wireless phone service please?

Does the cabling not worry you, not being buried??? I hope the cable is armoured!

BT landlines are still in place, but not used anymore. The service that we had from BT was woeful. A company called Vonage provides a Voice Over Internet Protocol service to us via broadband. We kept the same landline numbers, and the service is very good 👍.
As regards the cable, it is armoured, and close to the base of a (when it was installed), newly laid hedge, with stock fence also , on my side. Very little risk of anything damaging it. The bank that the pole is atop, is what I would call " hands and knees " steep.

I think my hi speed wifi link is coming up 5 year old next month.
I dumped my BT line in the august that year, kept my number tho & switched it over to a VOIP service from a company online based in Germany
sipgate there called. bloody cheap as chips, am sure it was another TFF fellow that recommended me them.
so rough back of Fag packet maths ive saved £1200 since i got rid of BT Telephone Line only.
i'll never go back
