Recently bought 2 cameras off Farmers Eye for calving cows. Talked through with them what we needed then measured up for cables and they sorted everything we needed from cameras to cable clips. We installed it ourselves without any problems. Phoned them once for advice on getting connected to a laptop which they soon sorted for us. The boss phoned a few days later to see if we were happy with everything. We just use it through wi fi and 4g on our mobiles. Calving cows now and it's great being able to see whats happening. Can reccomend them.

This might be a stupid question but can you see the animals if the shed lights are off?
Night vision

Can someone enlighten me please. I have electric to my calving shed so I guess I could wire in a camera but how would the picture get to my phone or laptop if I don’t have WiFi near by? I note mention of a SIM card, but what does that mean/ entail. Does it go in the camera :scratchhead: do you have to pay a monthly fee like with a mobile phone and presumably you need a decent mobile signal? Thick questions I’m sure but I keep wondering how people do it!

And a question from me : WiFi signal is weak and calving boxes are 200 yards from the house. Impossible?

I use a sim card pay as you go

i only need it for 3 months a year. I have no wireless or electricity in the shed. But fortunately i have mobile signal

sim goes into the camera and it basically works like a mobile phone

i pay£7.50 a month pay as you go

Presumably that £7.50 a month would allow you a certain amount of data/download?? (Bearing in mind you’re educating someone who is worse than thick when it comes to understanding data allowances etc!)

Correct. I think i have 1GB which is plenty

but when you first get the camera you are on it constantly 😂

best thing for me is. When i know a cow might be ill i dont have to trape to the shed from my bed
Get dressed
Walk to the shed
Wake the cattle by switching the lights on
Disturb the cow giving birth
Etc

you only have to save one calf and its paid for its self

Will you help clear snow?
