As an aside I hugely pity the teleporter drivers travelling on some of these fields as they are rough with all the cracking - the balers not so much as they are big and heavy, although drawbars are going to be tested.

I don't know , but everyone around here is the same. One theory that me and my contemporaries have come up with is that during stem extension moisture was in abundance, it only got really dry once the straw had been made.

Another thing that I've noticed and think has helped immensely is big doses of N early. Everything had 70 units of urea the week after the beast from the east. the odd field which didn't get any for another week/10days is noticeably poorer in both grain and straw.

Another thing we use very little pgr, plenty of pig muck and yes we are light land.
Pig muck makes straw.

If they get screwed on price, arable farmers won't forget this in a hurry. Don't whinge next year if it ALL goes to power stations.
I wont need any next year they have fuked me off big time with profiteering, my money is going into cubical s and slats one customer lost here due too their offensive greed, i urge my fellow livestock farmer to do the same, protect your own future.
