Lock downs

Precisely
My son is caught up in it now, as a Year 2 student
We told him it would be better to defer for a year - but hey ho
My son and daughter too. Both wrote to their Universities in July asking whether courses would be on line or in person both were told that courses would be in person so they went back. Deferring is O.K but I would think a lot wouldn’t be keen to go back after a year out. The problem with all this is it will only be after it is finished that we will know what the right course of action was. Whilst I don’t agree with most of the policies being implemented I see that they are on to a hiding to nothing Grandad dies it’s their fault the economy crashes it’s their fault now no one going for cancer treatment it’s their fault. Basically it’s government by public approval but they aren’t getting much.

How when we have 1,000's of empty beds in nightingale hospitals.....?
Did not get overwhelmed first spike, so why would it now?
How are these hospitals going to be staffed? The health service has lost many frontline workers from the first wave, some through illness, some through fatigue and some have put their lives on the line and have had enough. This whole episode is very much akin to fighting a war and the fact that you have surplus ammunition is not much good if there is a shortage of soldiers to fire it.

Final year medical students, final year nursing students. Getting retired NHS workers back. Even admin/office staff were potentially going to be trained as cleaners and the like. Then the veterinary profession collected signatures for people who would be willing to learn a crash course on human medicine and go and work in the nightingale hospitals. I kid you not.

Guess it's one thing to treat, so you not got to learn a full medical course....

Out in the milk van today it seems 90% of our customers intend to stay open and provide a takeaway service. Understandable as most are desperate to generate some turnover. Couple this with schools being open then I reckon this lockdown will be much less effective at slowing virus transmission compared with the spring one
