Lost in Norfolk

I had an order for a 3.45mt Subsoiler earlier this year. It was needed for the potato planting season. No deposit was asked for. I did not get it made but I had a new 3mt hear which they collected with 2 sets of wearing parts. I have been told that they are having further parts made locally as they don't want me to supply in case I get corona virus. They are not paying for the parts supplied or the machine until the end of planting when they will ether keep it or pay a rent for it's use.
Is this how things are and is this fair? They will not let me have the machine back and not replying to my emails
I need like a hole in the head right now. What do I do.

Why was the machine not made for when they wanted it? Seems to me the deal was done. I am not having a go but what are they supposed to do without the machine you said you’d sell them. although if it was me I would be getting the wearing metal from you unless your miles away and paying for it.

On the strength of your first post, the machine remains yours, so I expect you could take a Hiab and collect it if you felt strongly enough.
But then they probably wont pay anything, and will tell everyone who will listen that Tim Howard is a wrong'un.
If you have no reason to suspect they are dishonest, and believe that they will honour your verbal agreement, you probably ought to let it roll?
The only warning flag waving is that they are buying wearing metal elsewhere....

At the moment I feel that I am subsidising there operation. If I had supplied there new machine would I have been payed. Why would they want to buy it when they have finished planting. I did agree with them hiring it and I asked them what they thought would be an acceptable price but have had no answer.

Is the new machine built yet? tell them you will deliver it want paying there and then and collect the loan machine, if you've lent them it till there's is built not much you can change now is there?

I think things are now being sorted thanks all.
I don't think it is anything to do with the company who I am supplying but I will keep you posted.
Is any one else fed up with everything being blamed on corona, what else can you expect. we've had foot and mouth and swine fever from abroad, dutch elm disease and Ash dye back now its our turn, Its too late to turn the clock back all we can do now is try and live threw it.

Im glad youre getting sorted, nothing worse than having your leg lifted and not knowing whether it wil pan out or will it end up a very expensive demo
Best to get a wearing deposit before letting a loan machine out of the yard .

Thanks I have probably over reacted but I have already lost one machine. I have always found farmers very fair and would class most as friends. I do not expect anyone to pay for a machine anymore without trying it first so I do leave myself open a bit.
