I would of thought thats before discount, a mchale fixed is 10k cheaper, never priced a jd baler up, and probably never will.

Is it on finance?
Is there a trade in?
All these offer some form of security. Sadly the days of a handshake and promise to pay in 30 days are long gone!

I would of thought thats before discount, a mchale fixed is 10k cheaper, never priced a jd baler up, and probably never will.

If the jd was 10k cheaper than the McHale. I'd still buy the McHale.

All Agricultural gear is too dear. How come a 200 hp tractor costs as much as a 500 hp tractor unit? The whole job is getting out of hand and the rates dont go with it.

Farm kit is way too dear and I’m sure some of it is pure profiteering.

The price difference between a Multidrive chassis cab and a truck based 4x4 chassis cab is about £40-50,000. That’s not even like for like, the truck has nearly double the power and over double the gears. AND double the seats.

I was talking to a chap on Sunday who bought a new drill last summer. To cut a long story short it was hopeless in the wet autumn so they’ve no real choice but to change it.

They’ve gone for a slightly bigger drill of a different type and will lose over £30,000 on the previous model!!! It’s only about 9 months old and has hardly worn the paint off the legs!!!

To cap it all, neither of the two local dealers want to touch it.

If that’s not expensive I don’t know what is.

We bought a 1 year old Welger RP12 in 1988 for around £5,200 - we’ve all been taken for a ride since those days .

Made enquires lately on a 2013 valtra t163v. 65 plus vat in euro. Of coarse our own t160 of 2005 is worth very little as a trade in so it'll be staying put for the foreseeable.

Prices will keep going up till people stop buying it. Everyone will just find ways to do without. Zero tilling is a good example of that or liquid fertilizer to save buying a fert spinner not that im an expert on any of those things.
And why does all machinery keep getting bigger and more complicated. An rp12 was a much simpler machine than whats available now what does all this extra complications really achieve? Compared to all that electrics you could just make the reel bigger to make everyrhung a bit stronger and it would do the same job as a computerised baler without the extra costs and complications and costs wouldnt it

We used to be able to buy nearly any machine for the farm without finance. But that’s Near impossible now!

There is in general a lot more size and complexity to machinery now though.
