Hopefully the weather is better this year! Has anyone started yet, just wondering how the yields/DM’s are looking?
Hoping to start Tuesday, as contractor has only just finished combining and loads of muck spreading to do. Looks like the rain is starting Wednesday.......

Done a third of mine this week. Crop dryer than it looked in the field. Main cobs big, full and fit. Secondary cobs way off and didn’t think they would have much impact on the moisture. Should do another clamp next week.

Have a look at the maize thread on the dairy part of the forum, a few started and yields and dry matter seem to be very good

Think we are one of the last with maize still to cut around here. Some of it was coming off around 36/37% dry matter yesterday. Spoke to contractor further west who hadn’t even started maize yet so must vary a lot around the country.
