I have had my contractor use a wholecrop header before. It still did not do a great job but blocked up less than the kemper. We lost quite a few cobs.

It can be caused by high winds creating a vortex in the crop, this crop has brackled rather than lodged. When buying a maize variety it is always a good idea to check its lodging and brackling figure.

Would the vortex be the explanation for grass, or is it just too long for its own good?
