Keeping our children occupied with a few basic life lessons today, first they made the flour, then the bread and then finally edited the clips to make this video !

Worth a share, may help a few reconnect with where their food ACTUALLY comes from

@chaffcutter might enjoy this, currently in lockdown staying clear of c19 so hasn’t seen his grandchildren for 2 weeks now

Mrs Bg is now asking me to get the shovel out and get her some wheat. :) :)No bread maker here though so just the manual version.

Have to sat a bread maker is a fantastic kitchen gadget and they are really not expensive relatively, make better bread than I can by hand and it takes like 3 mins to put a loaf on before bed each night

get on Amazon and treat Mr Bg !,

I started making bread over 30 years ago when our local baker stopped his twice weekly round.
Breadmakers didn't exist then so it was and is the traditional method of Kenwood and Rayburn.
Mrs Y took over the making from me when we got married.
Make 2 standard loaves at a time as that is an oven full. I prefer a malted grain but use wheatmeal as well.
Recently I got a 10kg bag of atta flour from Lidl which I have enjoyed. There was a pallet of it but it has not been repeated.

I think it must all be in the recipe. I had an early version Panasonic and was disappointed by the bread that it created.

Bright lads them two, sieving their flour (y) ..................

.............they've obviously read, somewhere on the internet, that the dodgy store where they sourced their wheat was once blackballed by RT for having mouse sh!t in a sample :bag::bag::bag:

:playful::playful:

Well done @Clive (and Mrs Clive). Sadly, I fear a lot of home schooling, that most kids will be getting, won't be as quite as high a standard as that.

well I think this sort of short film is Amazing, and things like this would really help promote UK Agriculture,
and the sort of stuff that would be nice to see spread on social media, to both promote the British farmer, and healthy food for the consumer, short films like this is what I tagged @Clive for in another thread, super stuff,

what I would of liked to see, is at the beginning is a few short clips say 5 second clips of sowing grain, fert sowing, spraying and combining, along with a trailer load of grain on the road to store, and tipping in store, this is so the public get the picture of the whole job field to plate,, something fun and informative to the public,

sorry for being picky, as it was very good of what you did, and also have to say it is something you all have done as a family in time of lock down spending quality time with each other,

I rather liked this one, short of flour? bring a 1,000 year old mill back to work

Great!! I love this. Just goes to show, the more you change, the more you remain..etc Glad there are people who still know how to run it.

Anybody know how to make light "fluffy" bread?

Ours are turning out doughy and heavy. I was thinking of adding some baking powder as well as the yeast.
