Just sharing as I was completely unaware until the friendly screwfix lady told me........register with makita within 30days of purchasing equipment for a two year extended warranty on top of the standard 1year.
They don’t seem to advertise it very well 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have way more confidence in makita electric powered tools than anything else.
Bought first makita 9inch grinder and lasted nearly 30 years and when gears finally wore out after serious abuse I bought a hitachi and first one was replaced in warranty and that died and bought another and that hasn’t lasted 2 years so very disappointed but replaced with a makita from screwfix a couple weeks ago so 👍👍👍

Had my Makita grinder repaired under the 3 year warranty this week.

I had registered it as soon as I got it. What I hadn't anticipated is having to provide a proof of purchase to go with the digital 3 year warranty that you downloaded from the Makita website. Fortunately I found an email invoice that was acceptable.

I’ve been through a couple of warranty repairs with Makita and it’s worth noting that, even if you have forgotten to register within the first month, they will honour the 3 year warranty if it’s a manufacturing fault.

I had a £300 chop saw fail after 2.5 years, not registered for extended warranty. They collected it, assessed it and repaired it all free of charge. I think if it’s found to be user error or wear and tear it’s a different story.

I had a similar issue with a Bosch Pro grinder, which I had not registered and it failed after 13 months. They wouldn’t honour the warranty and that will be the end of Bosch tools here I’m afraid.

Place I worked years ago got a batch of bosch 4.5" grinders, were all bad for switches sticking on used to use hammer to switch them off, that don't know if it was warranty or supplier exchanged them but soon went off bosch
