Manitou JSM joystick

the third service isn't always working properly. I'm assuming it's the roller on the joystick as a bit of waggling gets it going again.

Are they easy to change and where can I get them from apart from the dealers?

you said in other post it was a MLT 627 year 2009? if that's year built and not going off the reg number plate then you will have the all electric JSM stick unlike the earlier machines that had a pilot oil control base to the stick.

The all electric stick is a lot more complex system with joystick talking to the ecu.

The rollers are very reliable never had one fail but not to say yours hasn't. TBH a new roller from Manitou will be the cheap fix/option to try. you wont find the roller outside of Manitou I don't think certainly couldn't get them on the older style joysticks.

Check round the connections on the ecu which is on the right hand side of cab under the panel by the boom.
Check the connections on to the solenoids on the spool block (differcult to get at normally)

PM me your email as I have a PDF that covers it but so far I have not had to scratch my head and figure out how the system works!
I do know you are a bit limited to what you can do with out having the laptop to plug in to it.

Would you be able to send me over the pdf you mentioned above? Can send you my email 👍

Could be the isolation switch causing problems.

Maybe worth switching the two roller wires round so that the rollers are reversed so to speak, then if the boom is playing up you'll know if its the roller or not

it had me puzzled for a while

Check the wiring, we had a new cable put on ours. The repairer also said there were dry joints on the board. We swapped the JSM twice in the time we had the 627

Cheers for the replies! Yeah we ended up cracking it, very small star Allen key to take the joystick in two, revealed some 20+ wires which were frayed in two places. Looks like the joystick was replaced in the past and the wires not threaded back right. Split it and the old man had a very patient afternoon with heat shrink tape and liquid wiring. Added extra rubber around the whole bunch and fed it back properly this time. Sure it will wear again but for now it works. I do have a diagram in the can if that helps?
