I have a MANITOU Reach (series 3) and the brakes have stopped functioning! I have had lots of different people saying how much it would be to fix the problem and it seems very expensive!
I know very little about the machine so some advice would be great.

So it's a series 3 with hurth axles and power assisted master cylinder.

Master cylinder is expensive off top my head around £600 plus vat?
I wont reseal them assisted master cylinders, there quite complicated and seal kits very expensive too, happily supply a seal kit but your own risk not mine.

Set Brakes discs and seals etc is about £600 plus vat (near double that from manitou)

Then you got labour but at least you only got brakes in front axle.

Goodness me! That's going to be approx £2500 including labour and VAT.

If it was in my workshop, Be about £2100 including vat PROVIDING no additional labour required on axles, like steer ram seals, king pins hub seals, drive shaft UJs etc etc

Parts £1200
Axle oil £78 (20 litre can)
Labour 12 hours @ £40 per hour
Plus vat

ROUGHLY and assuming machine is clean, trouble is its old and things are never this simple!

you could always go genuine brake discs, there are 10 friction discs in it and genuine are approx £56 each plus vat maybe more? Steel discs are approx £20 each, then you have all the piston seals and trumpet orings etc
