What does everyone consider a good margin per cow per month over feed?Might be sensitive Info or whatever so only a question for the less sensitive souls on here. On 27 pence

I would say that's really good, that getting 27pence? We made an margin of 161£ in January when we were on first cut, looking good for the same again in February but we changed to second cut and in March it would have been 130£. We are predominantly back end calving, quite a lot of stale cows at the minute.

180£ margin would be an extra 10k a month in the bank ontop of our measly 130! We have finance costs aswell which is why I need to know we aren't getting a good enough margin!

We are on robots so effectively 3+ times a day we moved onto 2015 first cut in January which has made a marked difference to margin.looking at starting zero grazing in the next week so we'll see how that works

So the better mopf goes towards the extra payment for the robot, I honestly think difference between 1st cut and 2nd cut is 8k a month. Last yea pr July was awful we just couldn't get our second cut off! I remember it was a nightmare!

I've a landowner with robots who bought a zero grazer last spring. He's really really pleased with it, apparently the cows maintain yield much better through the season.
