Should be called Mongrel 100!
Not a bit more of a mongrel than many of today's tractors. Just look at the latest McCormick for instance, which have Carraro front axles, Fiat PowerTrain [FPT/Iveco] engines and ZF gearboxes and rear axles [the transaxle]. Many other brands have similar 'hybrid' mix-and-match' component tractors in their range.

this is the 125 I had in my shed for a while, it was sold to a guy in England, it was a tidy one for being original 019.JPG 026.JPG

Same as cars now, not quite as bad but trying!

Uh-oh. I've gone all faint

Sparsholt College had Marshalls while I was there. In our last week they had a new one delivered. I can't remember if it was a 100 or 125.

The tractor driver/foreman was local from here and used to drink with my uncle and his brothers in the pubs in Coventry. He was unimpressed when he opened the side bonnet and it hit the light on the front of the cab.

Farmer near Horncastle in Linc's had two 100's in 2wd form. His son told me that his dad went to an event at the Gainsborough factory in the early 80's. He commented that he liked the tractors, but not the colour ! He subsequently bough the two tractors but on the understanding that they arrived painted in John Deere green and yellow wheels ! which Marshall did for him. Got a photo somewhere of one of them, and i seem to think one of them appeared in Classic Tractor at some point.

I can report that one of the tractors is still in fairly regular use today, in Lancashire along with quite a collection of other Marshalls. Now I don't know model numbers exactly but they must have four of them at least.

Tidy tractors! I've seen a video of the 125 mowing silage, the 852 was bought from my neighbour, I'm sure it was very low hrs and in mint condition

Yeah they sounded good! If you go to tractor classics.co.uk you will see that 852 along with some others that he has owned, must be thomas blades you are speaking about with the green one, I'm sure he has 5 of the Marshall 100 series now

The tractors mentioned near Horncastle were one of each, a2wd and a 4wd and were on Crawfords stand at Revesby Show the year they were delivered. The farmer was died in the wool John Deere and his son is aswell.

That fire damaged one was sat in the nettles in several pieces at the bottom of a yard of a contractor who is local to me until recently. Apparently qf bid him several times on it over the years until he decided to let them have it. It is in a fairly sorry state.
its back on the go now i called in to see him at christmas to show him the progress a fair task indeed to get it together

I worked to a Marshall dealership and they sold about 6 or seven 100 4wds and we turboed most of them
They sold one 2wd as far as I recall
I remember plenty of gearshift universal joint problems, 4wd axle trunnion bushes were a problem , poor drum brakes , side shaft front axle , old 6/98 leyland engine was a good motor .
Any of these Marshall 100 tractors for sale at moment?

What sort of gearbox is in these? The same syncro box as Fendt 600s and the 1255/1455?

Its ZF T-3345,should be exactly same as Fendt 611 gearbox.
There is few variants in a ZF T-3xxx series transmissions, same design but for different power ratings.
If i understand, gearbox top-cover together with gear changing mechanics is Marshall`s own design.
Not easiest for first-timer,but very quick and comfortable to use after learning how to use it.
