Massey ferguson 18

Hello guys I have a massey ferguson 188 and it has a knocking noise when i lift something ..also the noise becomes heavier when the pto is working..any ideas

Are you dropping the lever back down once you have hitched up, if not its the hydraulic pump on constant pumping. Maybe.

Today i tried to use a rotary tiller...yes i droped the lever...tiller works fine but the knocking is very loud

Are you lifting it too high and the pto shaft is knocking

Even when the rotary tiller is working in the ground ..it still knocks

what kind of pto shaft is it. if it is a square sliding fit are the knuckles lined up. the nearest knuckles on the parts that are on the two pieces of shaft should be on the same plane. google pto shaft alignment.

I think that too..because the pto shaft is connected to the pump
