Matbro 270 overload indicator

The overload indicator has never given any trouble in the last 27 years but has started bleeping as I just drive round the yard with empty forks. Is the problem most likey to be the indicator in the cab or the sensor? Has anyone any idea where the sensor is actually situated or how I would test it?

The one on my terex starting bleeping all the time last month shortly before the alternator stopped working.
Might be worth checking alternator is charging ok, or that the load indicator is still getting a good 12v supply.

both parts of it are obsolete now, there is a kit you can buy to change it or the manitou system can also be fitted.

Now Then..
It's done well to be trouble free for so long.. there's a tangle of hoses in that area too. I can't remember if it's on the top of the Diff housing or to one side.. if it's on top, check the engine mountings, I've seen them snap. Then the engine sits on top of the sensor ..

Are they not available from HEStractec, or I think it may have had fluid power on the last invoice for parts I had?
They've been very good for matbro parts, even supplied me a pdf parts manual quite a few years back so I could look things up myself.

Just looked again this morning one of the front engine mounts is cracked and has let the engine drop slightly I expect the next job will be to jack up the engine and take off the mounting to repair it. Is there anything I will need to look out for doing this? I never thought a not working sensor could be the symtom of a much bigger problem

No like I said the original parts are obsolete and have been for a while, you have to change the whole system, box in cab, load cell and the wiring between the 2.

HES have just told me that the mounts are no longer available, so unless anyone else knows otherwise it looks like I will have to weld them up as the front on other side has gone too.

well yeah you didnt expect the mounting brackets to still be available to buy off the shelf surely! Matbros have been dieing a slow death since 1997 but in the last 4 years this process has rapidly sped up.

Just weld them up and make them stronger than before, think i put a web or 2 in last one i did. I also stick welded them not mig. i dont like mig much it leaves a brittle weld edge but mig does have its uses of cause.

thanks for all the replies to this post I have finally got the engine brackets repaired and bolted back on today. the overload indicator is back working so thats a bonus. I wouldn't even have found the sensor yet without the replies I have had

may have got lucky with the sensor, weight of engine might have just been touching it affecting its readings but not damaging it maybe?
