Maxxum gearbox noise.

I'll preface this by saying I don't think there is anything wrong with the tractor, as I remember hearing the noise when it was very new while topping in low range and its since done 3600 hours... Also makes a very similar noise when pulling away at a junction or the like sometimes. But having just bought a big square baler she is making a rather annoying noise from the gearbox. Only when forward or reverse is engaged and far more pronounced in the lower gears and when going down hill. I wandered if it is something like backlash in the gears? I will try to post a video. Would just be nice to know what the sound was as it doesnt sound good! 16x16 maxxum 125 2019.

I have a tsa135 that has sounds like your describing, mainly on a slight over run. Its done it for 6000hrs and hasn't got worse. I did enquire once about it and sounds like there is possibly some shims that could be added to a shaft/gears to prevent it but it was 100% guaranteed fix, it fixes some but not others, sounded like alot of work to go to on a 'maybe' fix so i never bothered.

That’s good, I thought it might be something like shims. If it’s not going to do any damage that’s the important thing puts my mind at ease.

It’s pot luck with that gearbox, some are much noisier than others.I thought they polished the gears or something to try and stop it on the later ones.

I've a T6.175 a 6 cylinder one and while it goes well I hate the 16x16 gearbox with a passion now.
It's a whining bugger of a thing, this one is particularly bad, it just goes into your skull. My neighbour's all know when I back it out of the shed.
I normally run my tractors to high high hours but this one is going as soon as feasible. Never have another 16x16 here again.
