What s folks thoughts , any good.
Easy to pull ??
How deep ,are they a substitute for subsoiling or just a pre cultivation tool.
Wondering about using one pre powerharrow for veg ?
Or maybe even post power harrow to get rid of any compacted layer.
How many legs would 90hp 2wd pull ??

How many legs would 90hp 2wd pull ??
Not many, 2wd !...

Was going to say if you got sand stone or ironstone or the like under surface they are a nightmare snapping points off legs but if on 2wd it would probably scrat instead of snapping !

Personally I hate them after doing thousands of acres over the years I just dreaded dropping them in the ground incase snapping a point or a point falling off ! ( The original McConnell leg and point had a roll pin through to hold them on but the replacement legs all seem to be bodge on points now) .....

Ran one for years. If you are snapping legs you are using the wrong bolts. They use strip bolts so they strips the threads on the bolts. Feet falling off was aways a problem with them but can over come it. Easy to pull and cheap to run.

We used to pull a five legs with depth wheels back in the 1990 with a JD 3050 on Sandy loam soils no problem. Usually about 12 to 14” deep just below plough pan depth. Never had an issue with legs breaking. Sandstone rock has sheared the bolt threads a few times along with tree roots. I now use a weaving subdisc on 155hp which suits my system better as it leaves a more level finish.
