We have a problem with our Mchale 991 high speed wrapper.

It was wrapping fine at 27 rpm then would not turn the table any more than 15 rpm also when slowing down on the last revolution before cutting the film it is going so slowly that it is not turning the table all the way round to “square “, which then means that when tipping the bale the film is missing the cutter.

I kept going to beat the rain last night and when the higher dispenser run out of film I kept going wrapping another 12 bales using just the lower dispenser, back to 27 rpm and the table stopped at the correct spot to allow the cutter to work when tipping.

We had to replace one of the film sensors last season, the symptoms then were not like this.
Could it be a sensor issue again?

Anyone had similar issues?

We have tried wrapping with the film break sensors turned off, made no difference.

New sensors fitted yesterday, the problem is still there.

We can’t work out why it will wrap at 28rpm with one roll of film but down to 12rpm with two. The table slows down to an absolute crawl during the final turn to the cut and hold position, and then is not tipping off at the correct angle meaning that the film is missing the cutter.

We were told to try removing the return restricter from table motor but that didn’t help either.

I guess we will need the dealer’s help tomorrow.

sorry no help then, we fitted the new loom and box to an older be that only has one roll.

can u select two rolls on the box? as in hasnt been turned to sinlge roll by accident but i think turning off the sencor would rule this out as it should only be getting on signal. only guessing, i dont use my wrapper much as i do the baling

Update. The dealer was out to the wrapper today, his diagnosis is that the turntable motor is goosed.

They don’t keep the motor in stock as it too expensive!!! So we will have to wait on a new pump coming from Ireland.

We are not best pleased as the wrapper has only done 4200 bales!

Motor too expensive? Poor dealer there if he can't sort u something would have imagined it would have been a part keep on shelf. Our dealer seems to keep everything including a few spare control boxes. Have fitted a new motor but can't remember the symptoms now.

Seems a weird one if it's always consistently dropping speed with 2 rolls .

Heavy silage 1 roll spins as normal. 2 rolls spins slower. Think I'd try a bale of straw with 2 rolls just to see how fast it spun out of interest . Also would be trying on a different tractor just to rule it out ?
