I am looking at second hand Fusion vario's, What should I look for,I seem to remember reading of mods and upgrades done to them including 5 bar pickup, larger feed rotor and changing net wrap systems,is there anything to avoid? a lot that are advertised have been fitted with new belts, does this mean that belts are not too resilient?

I would avoid the whole thing unless you have total confidence in the supplying dealer.
Ours was a great machine when it worked, absolute animal apart from in short wet grass which played havoc with the belts (never broke one though) but we had massive issues with the net system and electrics which meant it wouldn't always go through its auto cycle.
I kept it two and a half seasons before giving up on it, the dealer and McHale.
4 days to sort a breakdown which was never totally sorted was the straw that broke the camels back for me.
Apparently it went back to Ireland after we traded it in and eventually to Brazil as they couldn't sort it, never to be seen again.

Apparently none of the above.

A member on here tipped me off that they are generally not good machines. Thankful for his input and feel I should pay it on...

I’m On my second fusion vario , first one did 60,000 bales before I traded it in . Went well in my opinion . Put one full set of belts in it at 40,000ish bales because they where knackered and a couple more belts after that but that was due to baling foreign objects and not the balers fault . Other than that it only had normal stuff you’d expect, chains, the odd sensor , uj’s etc .
I got a fresh one for this season , a low bale count second hand one . Put ten thousand bales on it and it Never missed a beat apart from a wrapping ring sensor stopped working but we always carry spares with us . So didn’t stop us for long .
All in all I’m pretty impressed with Mchale round balers , I don’t think there’s anything else on the market that’s built has well and will probably buy an other when this one is due for changing .
