McHale fusion

How wets your ground and how wides your roads and gateway's?

The ground wouldn't be so bad if would ever cease raining, but as it has rained almost every day this past year bar a lull in the early summer this year the ground will be in poor shape.

Gates vary between 11 to 16 feet.

Roads are narrow wing mirror mode in places.

I contacted the salesman about this baler a few weeks ago. For the time being I decided it was going to take too much money to service and put right. And then it needs tyres as the ones currently fitted are bald and many sizes smaller and lower than should be fitted. I thought £2k to £3k to get it ready for the season, possibly more if chains and sprockets are particularly bad.

I see your point. But as far as fusions go it's probs worth a gamble. So say 12K to buy it? Maybe get them down to 11K? Say 3K in parts so assuming doing the work in house it would cost maybe 15/16K. Pretty cheap for a fusion. A mark 2 version can be had for 20K or so but you could need to spend 2/3K on it anyhoo.

True.
I am reigning my self in for the time being. A bit like you, I set out to upgrade to a newer wrapper, and found myself drawn to a combo baler to save doing as many all night shifts, but realised that when looking at this fusion I was exceeding my original budget multiple times. All money that I have to earn back.
Would still love a combo baler though.....

I had a bad year a couple years ago as very quickly spent over 4k in repairs. 2x new tyres, a roller with sprocket and bearings, pickup cam as a bearing went, a few chains and both those sendors on the wrapper unit as those for a 1000 Bale user will be as regular as anyone else at 12-24 months and around £200 x2 and a PTO shaft which Fusions eat for fun:(.

Those senders should be less than £100 each dealers only keep a limited number cause the batteries do go flat.

Same here [emoji23] I wouldn't be contracting much with a baler but at £4 a bale it wouldn't be long in paying for itself if the work is there.

I fancy an upgrade from vredestein flotation pro 560/60 R 22.5. They have served me well but they way times are wider is the way to go.

What's a decent upgrade? 650? 710?

Standard bkts here would like wider but gateways lanes and narrow roads don't help. Most times it's not an issue unless it's very bad. Having said that I've considered buying a wider set to have to try.

:) and I was thinking I would have to do a lot of baling to earn back the premium over separate baler and wrapper.
Plus I would have a lot of grass missed because a Fusion would have been just too heavy for the hills and soggy meadows I baled this year.

I did that, it’s bloody luxury not having to set off at 9pm to wrap the bales you have spent all day baling, wish I’d bought one years ago. Mine had 20k on a couple of years ago when I bought it and been faultless so far. (tempting fate)

Any other make in the same size is an upgrade, those vredesteins are awful. Nokian 650s are a good upgrade if you need to keep the width down, if not just go all out and put 750s on

Will a standard rim fit it or is a wider one neeed? Do you need an offset rim to compensate or come in as neat as possible. I know the chain side is neat as it is.

Only problem I found with the ones I have is sliding on hills, they are run at low pressure and do bulge out well and leave a decent footprint, although the lack of chunky grips hinder rotation though.

Same as, if 650's didn't impede access I think I'd go with that.

Replaced a set of original 650/50 r22.5 with tractor tread 650/45r22.5 much better more clearance. Original tyres kept blocking up stopping the wheel turning.

You'll need a wider rim with an offset centre. I can get you the measurements for either 650s or 750s. Optional tyre from McHale is a 650/50R22.5. I'd like to try a BKT FL-635 pattern in a 650/55R22.5 but I'm not 100% sure it'll fit, that pattern in a 750/45R22.5 works well
